First, before you do any digging, you need to call OKIE by dialing 811 for any state in the US or 1-800-522-OKIE or a national dig line to check where the underground utilities are. Home owners and commercial properties usually have Electric, Gas, Phone, and Cable utilities underground at their homes or businesses.
Electric is the big one you want to watch out for as far as harm to yourself goes and the electric company would gladly have you call them before digging on your property to be safe.
