First, before you do any digging, you need to call OKIE at 1-800-522-OKIE or a national dig line to check where the underground utilities are. Folks usually have Electric, Gas, Phone, and Cable utilities underground at their homes.
Electric is the big one you want to watch out for as far as harm to yourself goes and the electric company would gladly have you call them before digging on your property to be safe.
As far as expense, you want to be concerned for a main line of phone or cable that may be a fiber optic and costly to repair.
